It’s windy. Awning is flopping around.

Attached 2 5 pound dumbbells to each end to reduce the flopping. Many other ways of solving this but this is what we did and it seems to be working.

We keep ours out about four to five feet and usually not more.

Otherwise the wind catches it.

Do you turn off the awning power when you strap your weights in?

How about staking it with guy wires? I see that a lot. Seems to hold well.

I have seen on YouTube, the Overlanders have telescoping poles fixed by velcro to both sides of their awnings. Looks like that helps a lot. Check out CVT tents . com and ARB awnings. To see in action look for the "venture4WD" channel. He has a lot of YouTube posts so you will have to look for a bit to find his awning deployed. His channel is pretty interesting though.

I have a manual awning. I use awning deflappers. The velcro portion goes around the cross bar. Work great! https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Awning-.../dp/B000BUQOEU

We hate flopping awnings, too, so here's what we did.

First, we pull down firmly on each end of the awning about where you attach those hand weights and then tighten really hard on the black knob about halfway up the upper arm so it stays extended as far as possible and creates a rigid triangle with the lower arm and the body of the trailer.

Then, to keep the awning fabric from flopping in the wind we got a couple of those Camco Awning De-Flapper Max - 2 Pack (42251). $18 at Amazon.

Those two things make a LOT of difference for us. But if you want to take one more step, Camco also makes a 42593 Awning Anchor Kit with Pull Tension Strap.

It’s just amazing that there is a product for every little problem one could have.

Also what's nice about them is that they stay in place no matter how you have the awning adjusted. For example a few weeks ago I woke in the night with a fairly strong wind and the awning was moving about a lot, didn't want to take off the dxeflappers and haul in the awning so I just lowered it to the bottom position and the wind hardly then affected it.
