Maxx Air Fan does not start

It is Maxx Air Fan Deluxe Model 5100K. It just does not start anymore. The manufacturer asked for the voltage going to the fan between the black and white wires. I am not sure how to answer this question: could anyone help me?

Many thanks.

It is a12 volt direct current appliance. You need to use a multimeter, set it for DC current, and touch the positive (red probe on the meter to the white wire’s connection) and the negative (black probe) to the black wire’s connection, and look at the meter’s display. If you do not have a meter, purchase an inexpensive digital meter with LCD display rather than an analog meter (or borrow one). The meter will display the voltage.

Before your MaxxFan quit starting did you have any other episodes with it? Ours, prior to failure, would beep, speed up like crazy, refuse to reverse. Guessing your circuit board is gone. There is a very long thread on this forum on MaxxFan failures, all seemed to be circuit board problems. The thread even has circuit board replacement step by step instructions.

One no cost thing to try is taking off the face plate and warm and maybe dry the circuit board with a hair dryer. They do seem to be affected by condensation.

As others have said, if you don't have an inexpensive multimeter get one. A $10 one will do most of the trouble shooting you'll ever have to do in a trailer.

Ours recently had power but would not start. I took the screen off and spun the fan a bit by hand and off it went. Has not happened again. If the fan still has power maybe give that a try.
There are many of us that had to replace the fan power/control board due to badly engineered boards that get damaged by minor over-voltage conditions during normal trailer use. Search the forum for maxx fan and you will find much more information on the issue. Mine also had a faulty cable connector that would not make a good connection when positioned as it came from the factory.
