MaxxFan Chirp, green flash and motor running

We liked the Maxxfan and its features. It worked great.

This year when I drove south the MaxxFan 7500KA started to chirp with the green automatic light would flash and the motor would try to open/close the lid would activate for about a second then shut down. I had planned on stopping in at the factory on the return from Arizona in March but by then most things were closed and I returned to Canada without anyone looking at it. At first the remote could open the lid and now the remote does nothing and when the unit chirps and the green light flashes the motor runs for about 20 seconds without any effect.

Any ideas?

Welcome to the Maxxfan control board fail club. Here's the deal. The Maxxfan 10-21275K versions 3.8 or earlier control board is rated for a max voltage of 13.5 volts. Yes, the voltage in your trailer is higher than that often which is why the control board has a short life.

If you have a control board that hasn't failed yet, you can add a voltage regulator to help it live longer.

In your case, the control board has failed and replacement is in order. Here is where I bought my replacement when my board failed. Make sure the board you get is the V3.9 version or newer.

Thanks so much for that....I am in the process of trying to source a Canadian supplier for the circuit board....much harder than I thought. I also wonder if I need to replace the lift motor as well...that way when I change the board and it fails I won't have to wait for the "special order" part again.

Cheers,
pierre

On recent trailers there is another issue than the voltage problem caused by moisture on the circuit board. I just posted a solution on this other thread.
