The Maxx fan is standard, with full controls on board. The remote model is optional. My thinking is that I hate too many remotes and they are never handy when you want it, and that it is super easy to push the buttons on the fan itself. Still, if you like gadgets, or maybe sit inside a lot, it might be nice.

I am going to assume here, that you can still run the fan directly, correct?

Airtight in a FGRV? No, you want to combat condensation.

Maxxfan deluxe is nice. Remote has the options, while the main unit has the basic operation buttons. I find 9/10 times I just hit the main unit "go" button though.

Pretty much what I do without the remote too, Bruce. I am blowing out on a lower speed almost all the time when I turn it on, mostly on warm evenings, or should there be a build up of moisture inside.

I got the remote upgrade with "smoke" (instead of white opaque) cover. Reace would've installed the manual version with smoke cover, but the up charge was the same, since it would've been special order. I didn't really want the remote, either, but I assume I won't have to use it if it's lost.

I have to read the manual ( ) to see if the remote can be left behind; the main unit on mine doesn't have obvious ways to replicate all functions.

edit: yeah, you can do the important bits without it.

Hi: nautracer...I'm vertically challenged. With the added head room in the 5.0TA I kinda wish I'd gone remote. In a 21'er not so much a problem. Alf

okay, just a couple more boxes to check folks. "storage cubby cabinet bins for outside bathroom door".

I would surely want that, right? if there is a void somewhere, I wanna open it up and cram something in there!

I like the remote! I had a short in the PCB and when I ordered a replacement board, I asked for a remote. I am not sure, but possibly the base model will work if you buy a spare remote for it. Maybe someone could confirm at one of the rallies? Mine does not have the opening motor, but the other functions work via remote.

Regards,

Matt

In the 5.0TA it might be a good idea to have the remote for shorter folks.

Very tall person here, I unlock my awning with my fingers. I love the remote for the MAX fan, nothing like not getting out of bed to adjust speeds, open, or close it.

The stock cover on the MaxxFan is opaque and and you can not see through it. If you want any moon/star light at night, the smoke lens will work. If you want to see if it is raining/snowing the smoke lens will work, the stock will not. Remote is nice for convenience, how many of us do not use a remote with their tv?

Yes, but the windows work well for that too.
