Milenco Aero Mirror

I need advice from Forum members as to which model of Mileno Aero Mirror to get to tow an Escape 19". There are Mileno Aero 3 and Grand Areo 3 towing mirrors. Which one are you guys using and why? I traded in my 2012 for a 2016 model Yukon. My old Chevy/GMC towing mirror fit 07- up is no longer fitting a 2016 model GMC Yukon. I would appreciate inputs your guys can offer.

I use the Grand. It is larger than the Aero 3, and for me, worth the extra cost. I've tried a number of different "add on" mirrors, and find them the best of the lot.

I also use the Grand Aero mirrors. I am mostly happy with them. Once set up the first time, it is very fast to take them off and reinstall them with minimal additional adjustments required. Mine are subject to a little more vibration than I would like, and I am thinking of doing a modification to try to eliminate that; maybe for next spring. I would buy them again.

Tonny,
We also bought the Grand Aero model. We've had them a couple of years and they have been trouble free. We use them with a Highlander and a 19' Escape. I usually remove them once I get where I am going for clearance in parking lots and skinny roads. Years ago, when in Yellowstone, my wife was admonished by a ranger who let us know that tow mirrors were to be removed if not towing in the park. As congested as it gets there, removing the mirrors was probably a good idea. With the Milencos, it only takes a minute and when you put them back on, it's easy to "hit" the previous mounting spot so they do not need adjustment each time. Best of luck
Dave

We're using the Grand Aero as well and are quite happy. Towing a 19' with a 2004 Tundra.

Another Grand Aero here.
I don't understand the design of the tear drop design, unless they hope to reduce vibration.

I use the Aero 3-slight vibration but otherwise a good add on tow mirror. Either design should be more than adequate.

We have the Grand Aero ones also---and same situation in Yellowstone where we were stopped and told to take the mirrors off.

I guess I was lucky - I never had a ranger stop me to remove my Grand Aero mirrors at Yellowstone. I did notice that Nova Scotia is the only (as far as I know) Canadian Province that requires add on mirrors be removed when not towing. I haven't seen that as a requirement for any US state, however there are some areas that it should be, for example, Nantucket Island, MA.

Iowa requires removal of mirrors.

Maine says they have to be removed but could be adjusted.

I am usually the one doing the driving however on that day in Yellowstone, Rita offered to give me a break and she would drive. She asked if we should remove the mirrors, since I had never been in compliance in my home state of Iowa, I said" why start now" ? Cause the man with the flat brimmed Smokey hat said so, that's why.. Incidentally, we were stopped in a traffic stoppage caused by a big bull buffalo. He had gored an over zealous photographer, who left about a quart on the paving before the ambulance hauled the shutterbug away.

I just did about 1200 miles towing the Escape 19 with a Lexus LX 470 (Toyota Land Cruiser) using the Milenco Aero 2 mirrors. Wind, heavy rain, interstate speeds, no vibration at all. I like the shape and function. Sounds like either model works.

Thanks everyone for the advice on the Aero Mirrors. I've added them to my list.

Cheers,

Hello,
I used to use the CIPA clamshell design on my Ram 1500 and loved them. No vibration a one time set-up and on and off takes mere seconds !!!

We are now towing our 19 with our Audi Q5 diesel for which CIPA doesn't make a towing mirror and are using a Milenco mirror and do not like them as they do fibrate and one even fell off one time. I now use elastic bands to keep them from falling off again. I wish CIPA would make a mirror for me !!!!

I also have the Milenco mirrors and like them. I never realized that in some places they have to be removed when not towing, so I'm glad I read this thread. I tended to leave them on if I was going to hook up the trailer again in a day or two; I guess I'll stop doing that. That's too bad-- they make my somewhat wimpy-looking Tacoma look kinda badass.

I have had people in campgrounds ask me about the mirrors, so at times I've been a bit concerned that someone might unscrew them and walk away with them.

You can fold the OEM mirrors against the vehicle, with the Milenco mirrors still attached.

For parking? Folding the mirrors wouldn't be appropriate for driving, of course, even without the trailer. It is handy that the Milenco clamp-on mirrors can stay on and not get banged by people coming and going from adjacent parking spots.
