My bathroom latch is jammed, can't open door

I have a 2019 5.0 ta.

Has anyone else had this issue? I literally can't push the button in anymore to release the latch and open the door.

A few time in the past it would get a little stuck, but I would just Jimmie it and it would open, this time it's stuck solid. Nothing I try is working. I put some wd40 around the edges, I lifted the door slightly and tried, I applied a lot of force to the button....nothing. anyone else had this issue? Suggestions?

Hi: soaring360... Use the pin hole in the button, pressing in with a nail or piece of wire to open it. If the inside slide lock gets pressed and you close the door it's locked to the outside. It needs to be lubricated but not with WD40. Alf

Mine did that and I messed flexed around on it and finally got
It to open. Took it apart and found a little piece of broken plastic. Got
A new one at a local RV dealer. It was less that $10. Works fine now.
For lubricant I like Tri-Flo original. It is a dry polymer, not messy. Better than WD 40
Or Graphite.

Hi: Iowa Dave... My handle cracked and I only had a "Bi-Flo" problem. Ended up getting a new RV bathroom door set, but I only used the outer half. Then after the rush was over epoxied the handle together with the help of another Escape owner. Now I have a spare in times of need!!!

We haven’t had an issue but these cheap plastic latches are known to jam. I think the bathroom hinges cannot be taken off without the door being open so that’s not an option. My best guess to get in would be to drill straight through the black button with a decent sized bit which should destroy and release the lock. Then replace:

Where it happened to me, I discovered that the inside lock had slipped partially closed. Pushed it back to open & all was well.

Why is there a lock on the bathroom door anyway ?
Having had issues with that style lock in the past (Both locked out and locked in ) , I have often thought of removing the door lock and installing a handle and some magnetic catches .

Based on the post title they are locked out. Can’t manipulate the lock.

Triflow original is a light oil with some TFTE (Teflon), it stays oily, and doesn't evaporate. I use it on lots of things where a light lube is suitable, such as door hinges, bicycle chains and cables, and such.

a *great* dry lube is T.D.L. (stands for The Dry Lube) from the PB Blaster folks. this sprays on, completely evaporates, and leaves a white teflon powder behind, nearly invisible.

True. Depends on the style hinge though. I have seen them where there are exposed screws and those where the screws are not accessible with the door closed.

You are right! My 17 had exposed screws, but I just checked my 21, and they are under the door.

I also was going to say just remove the screws. But, yes, I went out and looked at the hinges and was surprised that the screws aren't accessible when closed. I'm sure the ones on my 19 were.

Any update from the OP? His legs must be really crossed by now.
