Mystery wires

Just picked up our first ever Escape, a used 2022 5.0. There is a coil of wires inside the wall cabinet on the right side of the door as you enter. Anyone know their purpose?

Suggest you put a meter to them and see if you've got an extra 12VDC power-drop (which can be useful).

They may be an un-used drop for an accessory not-installed like a power-outlet or optional lighting. I found similar in the cabinet over the passenger-side dinette bench in my 5.0.

Congrats on your new-to-you trailer and welcome to the forum!

Do you have a 12v cigarette lighter socket with usb ports in the cabinet?

If you don’t, maybe it’s for that.

That looks like it was equipped with an optional 12 volt drop that was never used. Those can be used to added anything 12 volt, an extra powerport, a fan, a light, etc.

Are there any unfused spots in power center?

No, every circuit in the power center is fused.

It's an almost new trailer. Can you ask the original owner or ETI for the build sheet? It certainly looks like an unused 12V drop.

You could also try asking ETI if 12V drops are normally live or required hooking up to a fuse.

We ordered a few 12V drops on our 2019 build and they were all live

I have the build sheet and it makes no mention of an extra 12V drop.

Maybe you could send the photo to ETI and ask where they normally run the wires for a 12V drop.

Do they connect to other wiring nearby or are they a dedicated circuit?

I just went thru this with parts.

I have open fuse slots but they didn’t run the drops to them, all three I ordered are just tied into existing circuits.

If I were to order again I would specifically ask for them to at least all be tied to one new fuse.
Couldn’t hurt to ask.

Connection for a power awning?

It must be a dedicated circuit because it is dead and all of the other 12V circuits are working. I removed the front panel from the power center, everything has a fuse. Looked behind the power center and there are no loose wires. I think I will send ETI the picture and see what they say.

I agree with Jim. We have the manual awning on our 5.0 and.also have the same coil in the same spot. It must be part of the standard wiring harness.

Yes, it is the wiring harness for the power awning. Unused, and dead, if you opt for the manual awning.

Have had our 5.0 for four years and just looked only to realize we have the same wires in the same spot.

Enjoy,

Perry

How can these wires be made live? I don't find any disconnected wires near the power center.

You might try contacting ETI to ask where the wires are terminated.

Maybe someone with a power awning could tell you where their wire ties in with. It might be that with a power awning option they just splice into something like a under cabinet light line.

I recently discovered my 3 extra drop lines weren’t given a separate fuse, just tied in with the existing lines. I have a manual so no can help…
