Re: new sceen door...

I like the new screen door on our 19'. It gets a lot of use and is performing well. Occassionally the top plastic bar comes apart but it is easy to reassemble. The latching mechanism takes some getting used to as it doesn't seem to catch all the time. Other than that, it's great.

Yes...a perfect seal top to bottom and side to side. Those mosquitos can't get in.

Re: new sceen door...

The only drawback for us is the invisibility. I was going to spray paint a decorative design (via stencil) in a silver glitter paint...it still is on my to do list. Meantime for about the third time, (I'm a slow learner), I ran into it and knocked from the track both the rail gizmo at the bottom and the screen! It was easily fixed, but disconcerting nonetheless. I will be sure to do it before our next outing.

Re: new sceen door...

The screen door works great, out of the way, and it seals nice. Like Al said, the latching mechanism is different and takes some getting used to, but adding a handle, inside and out, helps to hold on to it a bit better, and allows the latch to work more easily. These handle are very inexpensive from Lowe's or Home Depot.

Re: new sceen door...

When your dog tries to jump through the closed screen door, the track can get discombobulated. If you have not examined it carefully, you will need to wait for daylight to put it to rights. Some of the Lego bits get upside-down. Easy to put back in place. Once you have it reassembled, you will need to open and close the door a bunch of times to get things working smoothly again.

I do recommend that you look closely at how the lower track rolls out of the door. It is very clever.

Yep Ron, my dog tried to go through it once, and I had to piece it together. I had thought it might be toast as he really nailed it. But, it went back together just fine.

Hi: Sandra L... Why not use a needle and some yarn to weave a design into the screen mesh Put one low down in the door too, "For Dogs eyes only". Maybe a red/white "STOP" sign but not a "Fire Hydrant" Alf

Re: new sceen door...

Another Idea is to put fridge magnets on back to back. They stick well and look cool... 8)
you can collect them on road trips. Put some down low for pets and youngsters...

Except that magnets wouldn't roll up happily in the housing that the screen goes into!!!!!

Re: new sceen door...

Hi: Devil Dog... The screen door is like a Mirage style door. The tube is fixed to one side of the frame and the roller/screen pulls out of it. They are very light weight and take up little space. A couple of strands of coloured yarn looped thru the screen will let you know its closed.
BTW here's an advanced WELCOME to the Escape Family. Alf

Re: new sceen door...

At the fgrv rally last year, I saw the thread remedy. It was well done and looked nice. It is amazing how well the door goes back together, as if nothing happened, after a "run through".

...as can I.

I'm going with the spray-painted marking for the door. I'm thinking it should read "Open the door before exiting" in bright orange day-glow paint.

Re: new sceen door...

I would caution painting the screen. You won't know if the paint will melt the mesh or make it brittle.

Maybe some thin vinyl stickers from the dollar store would be something to try and see if they'll roll up. Like big spiders or dragonflies. Just for fun.

Re: new sceen door...

Good advice regarding the solvents in the paint. Vinyl stickers will probably roll off as the screen furls, so I may just have to train myself to look before exiting. Based upon my life experience and track record, that should take me at least 4 "fails" before I actually learn the lesson.
