Yes, beer for me and ice cream for the kids! This summer's trip will be to the Rockies, so pavement all the way. It should hold together.

Do you have a Nova Kool fridge or did you use one of their conversion kits to convert an icebox?

The kits are pretty cool. They include everything you need, compressor, evaporator, condenser, and 12 ft of line, and they come pre charged with refrigerant. I could do without the 12 feet of line but I can see how it would come in handy for a boat.

Another up vote for Nova Kool here. We installed a Nova Kool unit in our bus conversion years ago and it provided years and 100,000+ miles of trouble-free service.

I built the box. Mega layers of foam and foil and used their kit. The extra copper tube can be coiled up and isn't a problem. Better too long than too short.

While researching I found a YouTube video of a guy who built his fridge like a dresser. Drawers on slides of some sort. Very skookum.
