Has anyone on the forum been able to match the color stain on the oak cabinets?

Thanks

I'm not sure what you're trying to match.

The majority of the "oak" that you see isn't really oak, it's vinyl embossed plywood. Basically the only "real" oak that you see is the cabinet door framing.

I've used solid oak in several mods and only used clear water based Varathane with excellent results. No real noticeable difference between it and the factory finish.

They have a clear coat on them. I was able to come very close with a brush on lacquer.

I believe the frames are "red oak". I thought they looked yellow, so i bought "yellow oak" for my instrument panel. Apparently, I was wrong.
Just clear Varathane, no stain, on my panel.
Looking at the door, it could be either.

When I did the custom cabinetry in my 5.0TA I used an oil based Varathane, no stain, and the results are great.

That would be white oak. Maybe you were thinking of yellow cedar.

This is water based Varathane on my weather panel. I think that it blends in with the other wood and non-wood quite well.

I switched to water based several years ago after I discovered that it performed really well on the interior teak on my boat. Teak isn't the easiest wood to finish because of the oil but the water based exceeded my expectations.

That's better, but I have $12 invested in that one foot 1"X 6".
Have to ask, "how's the weather up there"?

There are variations in oak. Yours still looks like Red Oak to me as opposed to White Oak.

Weather could be better. Getting ready to head for Osoyoss next week via "The Fishermans Hwy." Hope it improves soon.

Here's another example of clear water based Varathane on Red Oak.

Yes, it's red oak all right. But if you ruin a spot of the simulated paper oak wall and you can't cover that spot to your satisfaction by mixing up a color match with acrylic paint, sometimes the only option is to hide it.

Thanks for the feedback on finish. Two other questions.

(1) Does anyone have a source for procuring cabinet door fronts that come close to matching the ETI profiles? I have contacted ETI but have not heard back.
(2) Source for procuring cabinet door handles that closely match the ETI handles?

thanks

I bought some maple, and some rattan screening, plugged in my table saw and my router. No stain. The varnish is clear Deft, 3 coats.

On my 19 I opened up a couple of hidden spaces and bought the doors from ETI. Between the various models there's quite a variety and choice of possible sizes.

They come with hardware.

Price was reasonable for a person who would normally fabricate them.

The one under the furnace is the additional one.

I too opened up the below-furnace space in my 2015 E19, and had the distinct pleasure of corresponding directly with Reace regarding cabinet door options.

His reply: I have attached a list of all the sizes of doors we use in the trailers. Let me know if one of these will work, otherwise I can just order a custom size door.

The attached PDF file shows the "standard" sizes, it least as they were in 2018. I don't recall that I ever found out where Escape was getting the doors made at that time.

Thanks for the list - this is great. I contacted ETI again this morning on if they will sell drawer/door fronts. TBD.

DEFT is another totally clear finish. The "plywood" almost has a pickle finish? so hard to match.
