ok i did something stupid

so i was unwinterizing the trailer and before i filled the water tank i turned on the pump very very briefly then realized i needed to fill the tank first. so after filling the tank i turned it on again -nothing. Did I wreck it? Or pop a fuse? not sure where the fuse is located. Or is something else wrong?

Part of winterizing is to drain the water tank and then run the pump briefly to clear it of water, so I doubt you damaged it.

Running them dry will not harm them. Shut-flo literature and advertising states that.

I wonder if it's really dead. You probably sucked air into the pump, don't know if they make noise without water in them.

Can you hear it run? If not running you might have blown a fuse. You’ll have to check on the terminals with you multi meter to see if electricity is coming to the pump. Or look at your fuse panel for a red light on any blown circuits. If electricity is present and pump is not running pump is dead. Or it might be your pump on off switch is broke. If the pump runs, but no water comes out check the winterizing valves to make sure they are set for flow. Open the sink cold water faucet.and the bathroom
Sink faucet and flush the toilet. If you have an air lock and water in the fresh water tank and the valves set right the pump running should push the air out in a couple minutes.

Do you (or did you) see a red light come on at the waterpump switch? If it lights then the fuse is good. However, if it lights and there is silence at the pump then you will be crawling into the pump area with a multimeter.

Sorry, I can top that. I was unwinterizing the trailer on a sub-freezing day and turned on the pump. There was enough leftover (frozen) water in the pump to keep the moving parts from moving. I was flushing tiny bits of black plastic out of my water system for the better part of a year after that.

Just a tip. If you winterize by draining tanks and hotwater heater, blowing air out of freshwater lines with compressed air, and filling drains with RV antifreeze, there is no need to dewinterize at the end of the winter, just fill your freshwater tank with water and go camping!

Every year when unwinterizing, I have to prime my water pump. I use a water bottle and pour a small amount of water into the filter on the water pump. I think the pumps are self priming, but on our 21, the pump is located under the bed which is probably at the distance limit from the fresh water tank.
