Other 17B Toilets
We have a 2018 17B that came with a Thetford Aqua-Majic V toilet, which I would like to replace with a better one (like the Dometic model 311). Has anyone done similar?
The distance from the back wall to center of the closet flange is only 8" in our trailer, while the Dometic specs say a minimum of 10" is required.
Doesn't appear the 311 will work. A "residence" sized bowl/seat is really desired, but even the Aqua-Majic Residence toilet requires a min of 9.5" from the back wall.
Thanks

Several years ago, I replaced the toilet in my E21C with a Dometic 311. Another member wanted to do the same with a side bath E-19 but ran into the same issue you have. He stayed with the Thetford. I currently have a E-19 and the toilet instillation is really tight. I just live with the Thetford, far from the best, but it gets the job done.

Thanks Eddie
Doesn't appear to be any other choice. Something to consider when getting the 17B.

I just looked at Thetford's 2022 catalog, and there's a Aqua-Majic VI that fits small spaces and has a larger seat. No hand flush version, but I'm going to give it a try.
Model #31833 for low-profile, white.
Anybody using/have a version VI?

The critical issue was the distance from the base bolt to the wall. I had found drawings for the Dometic toilets with their measurements. I could not find any technical measurements on the Thetford you are asking about. It may be in the catalogue you have. Let us know if it fits.

It's the same as Aqua-Magic V at 7-5/8"
The other Thetford toilets require a minimum of 9-1/2"
(page 19 of their catalog)

A-Magic Version VI is definitely an improvement over previous. Although the seat is only slightly larger, the bowl is much bigger and has steeper sides. No handle flush is available and foot pedal is smaller, but otherwise the flushing mechanism looks the same as before.

For some reason when I try to respond to your private message Eddie, I am blocked. So here's the reply:
I bought ours on eBay. Maybe not the best price but they shipped fast. We bought the short, white model (31833) and had no installation issues.

Comparing the V and VI on Thetford's site I can't figure out seat dimensions. It looks bigger in the comparison picture but I take it that isn't to scale.

I installed a Thetford 31833 Aqua Magic (AM) VI in a 2012 E-19. The toilet is just slightly taller the AM V. I had to replace the vertical PEX connection line with a line 1" taller. Other than that, it was an easy replacement. The bowl is more centered on the E19 and not as tight to the outer wall as the E17.
