Over the Stovetop Microwave??

We are just doing our build sheet for a 19-foot, and are wondering if anyone has any suggestions for where to put a small microwave, if we also want an oven and the larger fridge. They say there is no other place to permanently install a microwave if you order both the big fridge and the oven, so we were wondering if there was enough room above the stove to install a combination microwave/fan?? We are going to be travelling and full-timing for 6 months of the year and would like to have all three. Ideas??

There is not really that kind of room above the stove. The only permanent possibility, if it is, would be in the closet, building it differently for that. They may not want to do that. You can take one and keep it in the closet or under a bench and bring it out for use. You could possibly use it outside some time. Might want another exterior outlet.

There are people who take toaster ovens.

They do not make micro/overhead vents for rv trailers, maybe in the large motorhomes. Like Dave says, get a small one and give up some storage. I chose the oven over the microwave for that reason, you can always use the oven for microwavable food.

Even if it could be built in above the range somehow, it would be bulky looking, and be in the way. I too think just stowing a small one somewhere would be the way to go, though with the larger fridge, and the full oven, you will be giving up a bunch of storage as it is.

With regards to a larger fridge, I thought we would want something much larger than the 5.0 offered in 2009, as our dog is raw feed, and his food takes up a bunch of room. In actuality, the 5.0 was plenty big, as we tend to pick up about 2 days food at a time when on the road, and even boondocking, we can hold 5 days worth with no problem. Any longer, and we use a cooler for some things. We usually have a small cooler for cold drinks anyway.

It may not work for you, but we either use a stovetop oven (very small and light), or just bake or roast in the BBQ.

As we do tend to boondock mostly, while still employed anyway, a microwave would be useless. Once retired, we may find more use for one, and would then just use a small one stowed away.

Though, for every Escape trailer owner, there is a different method employed for cooking and camping. No one way is right, or wrong.

Maybe you could use bungie cords to secure it to the dinette table.

ETI needs to release a 25' model next so we have room for everything and a walk around queen bed.

At the rally last year I asked Tammy if there was any truth to the rumors of a new ’Escape 25' model. She gave me a big roll of the eyes, followed by 'don't even think it, Leon'.

Of course Leon, they haven't even released the 23' model yet.

Ah, why do half measures, if they go to 30' you could have an ensuite bathroom in a separate bedroom to go with the walk around queen bed.

Already got a bed picked out for when I order my 30-footer. (Microwave goes on the table to the right.)

Seriously, 30'? I personally think 28' would be plenty.

Wonder how come there aren't any mini micro waves - like big enough for a bowl of soup or cereal ?

Microwave ovens designed to be built in and including a range hood are readily available, and I have one as original equipment in a trailer, but it is bulky compared to the small microwave typically used in a compact travel trailer.

I would consider a nylon ratchet strap or TV Grips, but not bungie cords which could easily stretch and let go over a severe bump.

Because they would cost almost as much to make and yet be much less useful to most buyers. There is a small (but not that small) low-powered microwave oven called the Wavebox - which can run on AC or 12V DC - but it has always been a niche product.

TV grips have wires inside the ribbon cable, and with any amount of flex they eventually break, as I have experienced.
