What a great idea, Mark and Elaine. We have used the portable stand type, but it's always in the way and taking up precious counter space.
I've just purchased the same type you have and haven't been able to decide where to mount it. An earlier suggestion in this thread about mounting on the side of the vent hood seemed a bit risky, safety-wise. However, your solution to use that "lost" space in the upper cupboard is brilliant.

I put one left of the sink and back so a full load of tools just fit and used a kind of drag paper towel holder. The wife was using one of those vertical holders near the stove I did not like that./Users/kengriffiths/Desktop/IMG_1680.JPG/Users/kengriffiths/Desktop/IMG_1679.JPG

We avoid paper towels, napkins,plates.
Use cloth. So much easier ,for two travelers, and the planet feels so much better as do our great N and Nephews.

We used to use paper plates for the kids.
Before dinner, they coloured them, creating art, and diversion. Then they ate off them. Then they were used as campfire starters.
That's recycling.

We also love the Kamenstein. The ratchet puts enough resistance on the towels that you can pull a towel off one handed without a large portion of the remaining roll spooling out behind you.

Also a good idea. Thanks, Ken, for the image. Very helpful to see it rather than imagine what you are describing!

Magnetic for us
I hate putting holes in the trailer so we use a magnetic towel holder which has never fallen down or dislodged while traveling or using. The magnets are really strong! And you can push the ends together slightly to control how tightly it grasps the paper towel roll. Works for us. (Attached to fume hood...)
Not sure if the link will work....

how do you wash them when camping?
we use paper towels so we can wipe our food plates almsot clean, then they need a minimal wash, and lotsa food debris doesnt' go down our grey tank.
