Piggy Backers of the South Eastern USA???

OK OK I give up..almost! We now see no way to make it to BC by pickup day, April 27th. WE are going to suck it up and cancel all our reservations sometime next week. . 2 questions come to mind..
1. Are there any folks in SE USA also waiting to get their new trailers? Maybe we could pool our resources and come up with a plan to cut costs somehow. WE are just south of Nashville TN and had a beautiful 5-6 week trip planned, but obviously this has become moot.
2. Are there any folks hereon who have already HAD their new babies delivered..and who might give us some hints?

Why worry about getting the trailer if you can't go anywhere anyway?

It you cannot go to Sumas to pick up your trailer and you desperately want it, then simply pay to have it delivered. However, piggybacking with others may not be a less expensive option as the least expensive option may be for the trucking company to deliver to a single location rather than to each recipient’s home address. I can understand your desire to get your trailer. Even if you cannot use it for travel, you can make those modifications you may want to do to personalize it. Many of us have spent countless hours making what we consider to be “improvements.” Hey, your stimulus check (if you are eligible) from our wonderfully benevolent government will likely cover most of the added cost of delivery.

I had 2 Escapes delivered, one split with another and one split with 2 others. They could carry 2 19's and tow one unit. Now I think they can only carry 2 units or carry one and tow one. Either way it was less stressful than the planning the going to get the unit. The factory can hold yours until another is heading towards you. It does not have to be close to you, but just in the same general direction heading. That said, the trip out to pick up our other 2 Escapes to Chilliwack were wonderful experiences. But I'm glad it was not during these troubled times.

Another idea is to plan a delivery rendezvous. An owner from another state drove up to my house and we both took delivery and then hooked up and went camping that weekend. A great way to make new friends as well as learn together about your new home.

Piggy backing for a delivery is a good idea, if you haven't asked, ETI may be able to setup something. They coordinated my delivery with another.

This is what I was wondering too.

My brother, who lives here in Calgary, an easy days drive to Chilliwack, talked to Linda last week about picking up his trailer, ready for about a month now, who said to just wait, they could not possibly do anything anyway.

The waiting issue is the same for those of us with trailers already, and everyone else who has to wait for life to resume closer to normal. Not the best thing in life, but we will all manage as it will work out much better in time.

I all just need to be patient, something I am learning .

ETI is still showing the estimated cost of delivery at $2.80/$3.00 /mile. Same rate as in early ‘18.

That rate was expressed in CND.

With much lower fuel costs and a more favorable exchange rate, hopefully, the current cost to you will be less. Then again, maybe not. Depends on who benefits from the reduced cost.


A phone call would give you the current charge.

Google ‘RV Transport ‘ and you will find lots of delivery options. Your driver could meet ETI in Sumas, load up and drive to you.

When I got my used 5.0ta delivered I went through a broker who found a very reasonably priced transport. As I recall is was about half the price of having Escape transport (they were not am option because it was used). But if a transporter has a load returning from someone else it helps the cost. The drivers are bonded. If you need a broker I have the name and number of one in in the south, pm me and I will find the number. Good experience for me. Bill

Camping in the driveway or the back yard can be fun too. And it’s an easy way for new owners to do a shakedown of systems operation and storage solutions. Our daughters insist on “camping” in our rig several times a week. Easy fun.

Exactly!

And, I don't know about the States, but in BC we've all be told to stay home and stay local to stop the spread. If everyone decided to drive halfway across the country then we'd be in big trouble.

Lots of stuff we can be doing to the trailer here at home. Our 21std has been done since Nov 1 but we just could not trust the weather.. to make 2 cross-continent journeys in winter.

Too late now, but the southern I40 route would have been fine going out in October and returning the following week. It may not have fit within your reservations and planned route but you could have had your Escape by now if you jumped on it last year. Bet laid plans....I know, life gets in the way. Maybe next October......

Naah..our daughter had her baby Sept 1 and we cancelled camping to help her & her hubby out.

I think I may have been the first to use a common carrier to deliver my trailer. It was 2010 and three of us pooled transportation to Saulte St Marie ON. I arranged it through uShip with a carrier just north of Chilliwack. Let It Ride Carriers later became the go to shipping company for Escape. It was really cheap in those days.

Whatever method you use to select a carrier always be sure of three things: they should provided you with a copy of their license, you will want a copy of their insurance and finally they should provide you with a bill of lading. Missing any of those things could mean your trailer is not in the safest hands. Having them is not a guarantee but it is doing due diligence.

Yes, Let it Ride was the delivery for both my 2012 and 2014 trailers, Dave was the driver, if I recall
