Power Awning Debris

We have the power awning on a 5.0. On our shake down camp trip, I reached up the wacked the material a few times to try to clear any tree debris that may have fallen, but I couldn't see up on top. Getting back, opened the awning and noted from the underside "impressions" in the awning material. Got my tall step ladder and found It had rolled up with some small tigs. Don't think the material is damaged and expect the impressions the tigs made will eventually fade.

Seems I need a good compact step ladder that gets small & light, plus a long handle broom. How are folks sweeping off the top of the power awning, clearing any tree debris? Any tips?

18 volt leaf blower
1. Cleans awning
2. Cleans off site before setup; leaves, sticks, nuts, gum balls (Liquidambar styraciflua) etc.
3. Helps fan the campfire.
4. Competes with neighbors with open frame generators for noise pollution.
YMMV

I like your leaf blower suggestion. Do you have a suggestion for the loudest model? Too bad it is not able to be adapted to raising and lowering the jacks. It will eliminate a broom and a rake. Dave, will it work to clean that pesky sand off the floor on the interior? Then I could eliminate a vacuum.

If you answer all my questions correctly I will take the idea to the powers-to-be.

I thought there was a built on broom/brush that kept debris out of the box when closing.....at least there used to be black fringe all along the top of the box that would catch items when closing.

Hi Paul
To go to a blower model with real noise generation potential I’d recommend the Binford 6000CB with slant six engine, dual glass pack mufflers that have purposely been burned out by a 17 year old kid and his ex girlfriends kerchief tied decoratively on the control handle. AThe CB (crap blower) model also has the power to levitate and relocate piles of dog poop onto your neighbors site.
On Vacuums, Binford is again your go to manufacturer and the model is the 6000SS (super sucker). It will suck up, grind into a combustable powder and bag up into a bag made of old China bomb tires anything from sand, pet hair, dirt, leaves and forgotten Jockey shorts. The bag, though environmentally insensitive can be used as a fuel source for the upcoming night’s campfire, it’s also a powerful mosquito repellant, or the bag can be saved in your bugout pack for an emergency cooking source / signal fire should you become lost on your way to a remote pit toilet (sometimes known as a missile launcher).
Hope this helps.
Yours for innovative camping:
Iowa Dave

This is one of the reasons I would never get the power awning again. You can’t tip it to clean the debris off or to wash it.
All it takes is one missed acorn that can slip under the built in broom, as it has happened in the past to someone, to destroy the fabric.
