power surge

OK. This is strange. Raining elephants out there. The refrigerator starting beeping on 120 and the red light came on, so I switched it over to gas. Solved that problem, but the surge protector had cut off the power. The meter says I am receiving 138 volts from the post. It went down to 130 so I went out in the rain and cut the power. Waited 10 minutes and turned it back on. 130 volts and everything worked. Now it is back to 136 and no power again. Guess I am done for the night. I wonder what all the other rigs are doing--or if it is just my post. I will check it again in the morning

Nothing wrong with running the fridge on propane and your lights and furnace will be fine drawing on batteries. The beauty of the Escape is that you can be minimally impacted by a loss in AC power.

There are many reasons for high voltage . The utilities voltage may be running high , some large user of electricity may have gone off line ,or the taps on the utilities transformer are set wrong . 120 VAC is nomimal voltage so the voltage may vary 10 volts either side of 120
On 480 volt systems I have seen voltages between 454 and 496. It's possible that your camping neighbors don't have surge protection and are unaware of the issue. There may also be a loose connection in the system or pedistal causing an arcing fault. I saw an arcing fault in a 15 amp control circuit shut down a whole oil refinery and cause $27 million in damage and lost ptoduction. plus the jobs of several engineers and upper management . I ended up working 16 hour days for the next 3 weeks.

Back to 126 sometime during the night and everything is charged. Rain has stopped for a while--probably until the music starts.

Another good reason to have the option, it can save you problems down the road. Get the EMS by Progressive, it is like insurance, always there if you need it.

Hi: captmath... My wife has suffered "Power surges" for quite a while now with no permanent damage. Usually happens during the night too!!! My problem seems to be "Low voltage".
Enjoy the music and hope it stays dry!!! Alf

My wife may not have any permanent damage for these "power surges", but I certainly have.

You can make a good stand up comedian, Alf, or maybe you are sitting down as you spout these funnies....
