propane alarm

I have a 2018 5.0 escape and while trailer is parked in a covered location with electric hooked up and refrigerator on the propane alarm has started beeping even though both propane bottles are shut off. It is hot here 100 degrees F. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this. I reset and turn max air fan on and light turns back to green on the alarm.

Maybe a combination of heat and off gassing being as your trailer is fairly new, just a guess though based on the fact that when the maxxfan is operating it clears up.

Pretty common problem. Battery(ies) offgassing when charging and other things can set off the alarm. Most obnoxious in middle of night when it screams you awake! Many 5.0 owners have put it on a switch to be able to silence it. If not using propane, switch it off and valve off the propane tanks to avoid nuisance alarms. While “newness” offgassing May be part of the current problem, nuisance alarms will continue after the newness wears off. It most likely is small amounts of hydrogen from battery charging.

It isn't just batteries gassing off. Humidity, dust, etc can set them off...

Just walked into my trailer, in back yard, and hear the beep...propane tanks not on, etc etc. At first I thought it was time to change battery in smoke detector, but no. Humidity here is around 65, but we do get dusty winds. So now, what...do I get out my Roberts screwdriver and pull the propane plate out and clean the thing?

I'd start by vacuuming the face plate on the propane gas detector. Wipe with damp cloth. When did you last replace the detector?

This detector has never been touched, much less changed, since I first got the trailer Sep 2013. I totally ignored/never read the warning label. Tapped the test button/tab several times, it seemed to not like that, and triple-beeped, and the lights flashed. Now, much later, no more beeping or flashing. Either it woke up or I just put it back to sleep.

Guessing all is now A-OK. Maybe I got one of the pre-Chinese ones.

No Myron. It's not saying everything is OK. It's saying get out your wallet.

"End of Life signal is: LED flashing red and green twice each, with a beep every 30 seconds." This will go on and on for 30 days.

That's what mine was doing. Just picked up my replacement, online order, WalMart-$55.40 tax included.
