I do know of an Escape owner who’s propane detector went off. He had used his Weber Q grill with a 1 pound disposable cylinder, disconnected it, and put the cylinder in a storage compartment. Those throw-always are notorious for having leaking valves, especially after they have been used, and he found it was leaking propane causing the alarm to go off.

If nothing else, I would remove the detector early some morning, and using jumpers (perhaps with alligator clips), hook it up in the open air to the tow vehicles battery, and see if it goes off. It very well could be a defective detector, but I am inclined to believe it is responding to something inside the trailer.
Hi: C&G in FL... Never heard a peep from the propane detective... till the end of life signal. Got a new unit at my RVTech's shop and when I installed it added crimp on wire connectors for emergency disconnection... if needed. Those little silent policemen are really expensive too. I don't mind getting woke up in the night for some things... but ALARMS aren't one of them!!! Alf

I feel the same way. It's going to be hard for me to test it right now because it's no longer alarming. Maybe I can close the refrigerator back to just cracked open and see if it goes off again. I feel like something is going on. I don't know if somehow propane gets trapped in the lines to the fridge then slowly leak out over time? I'm not even sure if that makes sense, I'm very ignorant of what goes on inside the walls!

I'll check out the batteries. We need a major battery primer. It's on shore power at home, full sun on the solar panels, and I'm not sure if we should be storing it like that with the bypass switch on or off.

We also left the batteries in the camper for our crazy southern freeze we weren't prepared for, so we're not sure if they got damaged (although the beeping preceded this, this is kind of an aside). On shore power the battery is only at 90% capacity so I feel like maybe we need new batteries?

Go here for a battery primer:

A fully charged battery won't freeze until temps reach minus 92 F.

mine kept going off when propane was off-we vacuumed it, thought of changing to different batteries ( thinking it could be off gassing ), etc... we replaced the propane alarm and now we have no problem. it was easy to replace and cheep.

Thank you. It says continuous charging ages a battery faster, should we have the battery bypass on when parked at home and/or on shore power anywhere? Is this ok whether or not it's on shore power? We have been leaving it on shore power for our dehumidifier, but we've also left the battery bypass off...which I guess means the battery is charging?

I donno. I don't have a bypass on mine. If I want to keep the battery from charging or discharging, I remove wire from battery terminal. My trailer exists, plugged in, in the driveway. Maybe that means I've had to replace the battery sooner. No way to tell.

What you are referring to is a simple battery isolation switch. Calling it a bypass switch is confusing. If you have solar your batteries are always being charged no matter the position of that switch because the controller is wired right to the batteries. The onboard charger and the charge controller should work together to maintain the batteries. There should really be no need to touch the switch. The switch is useful if someone does not have solar or 120V power available during storage and doesn't want small phantom loads draining the battery. Also it is not uncommon for the GoPower solar controller to only show a maximum of 90%. According to the manual it will only show 100% after a boost or equalization cycle is complete. Maybe some owners with that controller will weigh in.

When we had this issue with propane tanks and batteries removed (for trouble shooting), it was obviously a faulty propane sensor. Replaced it and haven't had a problem since.

I would not recommend bypassing the sensor. An undetected propane leak could be rather hazardous to your health and/or trailer.

Where did you find the replacement? I can't find one with the same form factor as the one in my 2019 21C. Thanks

If it is manufactured by MTI (Saf-T-Alert), Camping World sells them.

What are the green and red light signals showing? There's intelligence in their blinking. A "malfunction" alarm can sound and flash a red/green light. This can also be a signal for low voltage. If the lights signal red, red, green, green then it has has reached its end of life and needs to be replaced. The 30-441/442-P have and end of life signal (which is 5 yrs).⁸

It would then appear that ETI may have changed the brand of propane detector they install, possibly due to customer complaints of false alarms, supply availability, or wholesale cost to them. In any event, when having difficulty locating an replacement detector that has the same footprint, there are two steps that are helpful:

1. Identify the make and model of the detector being replaced, and
2. Remember: Google is your friend.
