is there a better model I should get? or just the same style, like this?

Nope, that's the one John.

As for the alarm, since you're in a 21, I'd suggest you check your battery box and make sure it's venting outside properly and is sealed tight. As you probably know, the offgassing can set off the detector.

Is it? When did ETI use just a propane detector? I thought the units used were combination LP and CO. This is our unit:

You're right, didn't notice it's not a CO detector, just went by appearance. Thanks.

hmm, mine has a 30-442-P in it, which is just LP ... the smoke detector up above the bed is a combo CO/smoke.

Ah, that would explain it. Since you already have CO detection, the one you linked would be fine.

My 21' sealing was poor. The witness marks on the sealing tape showed large areas that were open. I installed an automotive type strip and it seemed to work on our two weeks in Florida. See post 8.

The gasket was a pain to get on but seemed to work. It has a metal core that required a lot of tin snip work. So don't assumed your box is well sealed. I still bought a spare detector and installed a switch to avoid midnight wire cutters.

Ok, interesting. At some point it seems -2014 model year? - ETI switched to an LP only detector down low and a combo CO/smoke up high. When I replaced the smoke detector I put a combo unit in up high too for extra CO protection in case of malfunction of the dual detector down low or if it is unplugged due to nuisance alarms.

CO alarm is best located about 30" from floor since CO is evenly distributed in air. That would put it about the same height as your nose when sleeping. LP alarm is best just above floor because LP is heavier than air. Smoke tends to rise so smoke alarm should be near ceiling.

So what you are saying is that ideally you have three different detectors?

Yup. And I do, but in such a small space a combo smoke/CO detector wouldn't be a bad choice.
My CO detector is portable so I could use it at home too, except I already have one there.

I've covered a lot of house fires etc., so I'm paranoid.

Using the sleeping nose method of locating, the combo CO/smoke alarm mounted up high would be ideal for those with the fifth wheel.

Ideal location for CO alarm is 3' off the floor. Smoke alarm is near the ceiling, so not sure how good the CO part of a combo alarm would be. I have separate CO and smoke alarms ( and propane gas alarm ).
