propane leak

I seem to have a small propane leak at the regulator in my new to me 17b.

it is coming out on top of the switch for the front or back tank where the plastic indicator is

It is Minus 25 c here so i was wondering if that was the problem or if it is time for a new regulator

Something that old may have cracked, I'd get a new one.

Yeah, eight years and who knows how many UVs, etc. Replacement would be on my radar. They're cheap. Be safe!

Having used propane regulators both at low (winter) temperatures and for long periods, I have concluded that they are essentially disposable. I'm at the point of keeping a spare in the motorhome. Also, the auto-changeover units appear to be not intended to work in the cold; they don't switch reliably... so I doubt they are designed to be durable at low temperatures either.

None of this is intended to be critical of the common auto-changeover regulator used on a dual-tank Escape: they are intended for recreational summer service, and work for quite a while if used that way.
