Proven Industries 2178-A Doesn't Fit

Hello, the small plate of my 2178-A doesn't fit into the coupler of my new 21NE properly. It seems the vertical tab is too close to the round tab that fits into the socket. Anybody experience the same? Thanks

I've seen some comments about that on Facebook. The resolution was the poster contacted Proven Industries and they replaced either the plate or the whole thing. Give them a call.

I recently bought a Proven Industries Model 2178 B hitch lock for my Bulldog coupler. They contacted me and would not complete my order until I sent them a picture of my coupler so they could confirm I had ordered the correct lock.

I also sent photos of the coupler to PI before they shipped the lock.

You can see the tab on the lock plate is not getting into the "pocket" on the coupler. My thought was to bend the tab so that it does. Thoughts?

Same as mine, though I haven't seen it since November (currently lives under a black trash bag to keep the rain off).

Same here. I thought it didn’t fit the first time I put ours on. Played with it a little, then finally tried putting on the main “box” (or “outer shield” as Proven Industries calls it), and it all fit together. Hope that’s the case with yours, otherwise they need to send you a new “inner slide” or a whole new set up.

That’s definitely the model we use, and I don’t know that ETI has changed out the couplers they use.

If it won't pivot up to parallel to the frame to insert into the "box" portion of the enclosure - give Proven a call.

They were very helpful when I bought mine.

Unless the hitch is FUBAR...............which is possible, but hopefully not. Is your hitch easy to latch on a ball?

I can get measurements off mine tomorrow if needed.

Interesting. I wonder if it is the hitch? We just brought home our new 21NE 3 weeks ago and installed this exact model lock with no issues. If you want to contact me we could FaceTime and do a comparison install.

Mark, I would like to take you up on your offer to FaceTime but I am an Android person. I will have to see if there is an app for my phone that will work.

2178A does not seem to fit

I received my new 21C 2 weeks ago. I made a mistake and ordered a 2178. I sent a picture and then they sent a 2178A. I could not get it to work, so I sent a message to them tonight. Hopefully I will hear back tomorrow. My pictures would look exactly like the original poster.
