In my quest to achieve better performance from my Dometic rm2554 refer I made the following observation. While the refer struggles the most in the heat of the day this also happens to be when the air conditioner is running the most and in my poking around at the roof level I noticed that the exhaust air from my Dometic ac is essentially blowing warm air directly at the vent for the refer. My concern is that this could be affecting the rise of hot air from the refer cabinet creating an air dam of turbulence. Has anyone else observed this and made any attempts to redirect aiflow from the AC unit?
I just finished insulating the refer enclosure and ducting the flue exhaust above the condenser and this seems to have made a significant difference.
I don't know about the air dam theory. Maybe the cross flow creates a venturi effect and "pulls" out hot exhaust gases.
But, yes, getting the hot exhaust gases away from the condenser is a mod that I did years ago. Never understood why the exhaust system used in Australia, that dumps the exhaust heat directly outside, wasn't available here.
