replacement mattress for 5.0

We would like to replace the existing mattress in our 2009 5.0. thinking of just buying a 4-5 inch piece of memory foam. have a memory foam mattress at home we really like. anyone done something similar? don't really want to invest in a standard rv mattress...

Sleep, the one thing that can turn a wonderful camping experience into a nightmare. I can sleep on a brick. Others want feather beds. I can't imagine anything more personal in any trailer than where and how you sleep. Personally, I would think if you are thoroughly comfortable at home you'd want to duplicate that same thing in your trailer. Same brand, etc. THAT is my plan. YMMV

Hi: ksb... We have an 8"thick queen sized memory foam mattress in our 5.0. It prompted us to get a Tempur-Pedic mattress for home use.
Reace credited the mattress supplied by Escape and the memory foam took its place. We are a pair of pampered campers as a result!!! Alf

Alf, is your 8" memory foam a tempur-pedic or a piece of high grade memory foam? thanks!

Hi: kbs... The trailer mattress is a knock off but it's so good to sleep on that we got the T-P for home use. No box spring required for either mattress as the trailer one is on the ply-wood loft floor and the home unit is in a Danish style bed with wood slats. I sleep better in the trailer but some of that is just knowing I don't have to "work in the morning"!!! Alf

Alf,

Pretty soon it will be, "what do I have to do tomorrow" followed by "I don't have to DO anything".

Previous threads have generally commented that the stock mattresses are better than the average RV product and that was our experience. We added a 1.5 inch foam topper from Walmart and, after close to 20 nights in the trailer, we now prefer our Escape bed over the ones in our home and cabin. Reviews on the Casita forums offer a number of options for RV mattresses but needing to change mattresses doesn't seem to be as big an issue for the Escapes.

I added a sleep number bed similar to what we have at home. I knew it would be affected by altitude but I have found it is very temperature sensitive also. Needs to be adjusted every night, but the number I use is the same. Very comfortable.
