Hello anyone who can help out!!!
I have a 2018 RM2354 Dometic 3cf fridge in my Escape 17B. I got a new door latch to replace the old one from Dometic. It broke on the door side of the latch when the triangular tab that holds in it place snapped off. Its plastic.
The new one is exactly the same. It is so hard to use that sometimes my husband can't even get it open. I have figured out how it works but it still makes a dent in my finger to use it. Repeatedly opening and closing the door during meal prep can cause a blister on my thumb.
I want to do a modification and thought I would check to see if anyone has done this already. Why reinvent the wheel, hey?!
Has anyone replaced the latch for something else? Perhaps a metal latch that is easier to use and still will keep the door shut?
The warranty expires in August 2020.
Thanks for any input.
Hopefully this image is turned the right way. It shows how you have to press and slide up on the ridged square button while opening the door. IT does not work easily.
I find standing on the left and just pushing in the furthest edge helps....opening it from the right side is hard, I agree. But the refer works great.......
