RMD 8555 Refrigerator Audible Alarm

Good morning all, we were awoken this morning by the fridge beeping. It goes for 20 seconds at 2 minute intervals. There is nothing flashing on the panel, but the small rectangular unlabeled light to the far right (by the door handle) is flashing. The manual gives me no help on the subject.

Any idea as to the cause?

I donno, but are you on propane? Do you have full propane? The flashing light on mine indicates the fridge is not yet lit. Have to press a button and hold it for 15 seconds after the light goes out.

On our single door unit it means the door isn't fully closed.

Hi Robert this may help you.

"That includes the RMD 8555’s increased accessibility – its unique handle allows users to open or close the refrigerator with a single fingertip – and increased security, with snap-in magnetic door-locking seals and an audible alert that sounds when the door isn’t entirely closed."

The door closed thing doesn't make sense since it started alarming at 7:30 am and hadn't alarmed all night. The propane tanks are fine. It alarms regardless of the fuel source, and alarms in automatic. I've already called Escape and Reace is supposed to get back to me.

It is searching for a power source. Push the reset button. Reace will give you a more specific answer when he calls, but he mentioned this to us when we picked our new 5.0TA up.

Exactly, take it off auto mode and choose a source.

Also check the 115 volt plug in the outside vent. Ours vibrated loose and was giving the same warning because it was searching for power and not finding it.

Hello all

The fridge stopped beeping yesterday on its own. This afternoon it started beeping again. It was on ac. The plug is not loose. The batteries are not low, although we weren't running it on batteries anyway. No Dometic service center within hundreds of miles that isn't booked through next week. Looks like an ice chest for the rest of the trip unless someone has a better idea.

RMD 8555 Refrigerator Audible Alarm

The guy at Jerrys RV Service Center in Bend said to try to disconnect both AC and DC power for 10 minutes to reset the fridge. No go. Still beeps. Driving us crazy. Gonna have to shut it off and go get some ice. Disappointing for a new unit.

Find the Dometic maintenance manual on line for this model and see what different items can cause this audible alarm. Someone mentioned the door sensed as being open - play with it some. Linda mentioned the reset button which I see you just tried. Kountrykamper mentioned the 115v receptacle, if you have a multimeter check the actual voltage and use your GE 3-wire receptacle tester to make sure polarity is correct. Your best reference is probably the maintenance manual.

Sorry to hear that it wasn't an easy fix Robert. Your right, the Dometic line seems to be disappointing to say the least. Hope the rest of your trip goes good.

Cheers

Still beeping-- on my way to get ice and shut it down. We're too far from BC to turn back and it seems most rv repair centers have at least a week wait to check it. Was really not wanting to use an ice chest for the next several weeks!

Appreciate the advice, but can't find a maintenance manual for this model online. An installation manual yes, but not a technicians manual.

By the way the system alarms regardless of the power source. I don't think it has anything to do with power.
