Hi Mike, this is the one installed in my 19 and the one that I'll be installing in the 21. Blue Seas mini battery selector switch, good for 300 amps. You can turn off all batteries, select 1 or 2 or both. Works well for my situation.

That's what I'd do if I had a problem with off gassing and leakage. I guess someone figured it was just easier and quicker to drop one piece of foam in instead of the 4 individual pieces around the lid perimeter. One piece could work but it'd have to be larger than the piece in mine that is a little too small to be in the area that it's really needed to seal.
