Slow Transfer Switch

I have a 2022 5.0 with progressive ems and transfer switch attached to back of convertor.
I find that it take what seems a long time after trailer is plugged in before ac is available at outlets.
I always blamed it on the EMS but i don't think that is the case.
Once i have plugged in shore power ems displays E 0 (system Normal) almost right away but i don't hear transfer switch click over till awhile after.
I decided to time it today and it takes 2 minutes 17 seconds before it clicks over to provide ac power, is this normal?

That was normal for us. I knew the power was working when the microwave beeped. In the meantime I did other set up tasks.

Be patient

It's normal. I recall I timed mine once and it was about 90 seconds or more. As long as it connects, I wouldn't fret.

I think on the orientation video Reece said 3 minutes for things to turn on.

It has nothing to do with the transfer switch. The EMS with jumper pulled takes 2m16s as you have figured out. The EMS will display scrolling voltage/frequency/status codes almost immediately but there is a small red light that flashes during the startup for the length of the delay. The delay is really only for air-conditioning restart safety so if you don’t have A/C or your A/C has a time-delay built in then you can put a jumper in and your delay will be reduced to 15s. I put in my own EMS and our mini-split has built in delay so I have the jumper installed. Check the manual for your A/C. The newer units Escape now uses may have their own delay. If so you might be able to call Progressive Industries and get a jumper.

Mine came set to 15 seconds. I don’t use the AC enough to worry about it. I’m not sure how 15 vs 2:13 gets decided. I would guess ETI installs them as set from the factory and you get what the manufacturer sent. I’ve never popped it open to look at the jumper.

The Progressive Industries factory setting is 15s. ETI has typically pulled the jumper on their installations. Maybe they missed yours.

Thanks for all the information i will check for the mentioned jumper and most likely remove it.
I was more worried that i had defective ems or transfer switch.

If you have the long delay the jumper was pulled and likely discarded by ETI. Your best bet would be to see if you can get another one from Progressive Industries.

Jumpers are pretty standard, you could probably pull an unused one off some other electronic item you have - an older computer or computer power supply..
