So where is my furnace sail switch?
So I pulled my furnace to add an access panel to the outside of my trailer to service the sail switch "when" it fails. The back of my furnace does not appear to look like others I have seen on the forum. I cannot identify the sail switch(?). What am I missing?

Hi: MVA... I can't either. Are you sure you had one? Alf

MVA: Based on your model # (AFSAD12121) your sail switch should be behind the black vent cover panel. See exploded view attached. This panel is the one at the bottom of your picture or on the right side when in the typical installed orientation. Panel appears to be removed with two screws.

On my heater it's at the spot I circled in your pic however yours looks nothing like mine (no housing to support the switch position). What is similar is the two-post electrical terminal in the same location. It appears yours, like mine, has two wires on one post and a single wire on the other. Perhaps your sail switch is fitted behind/under this terminal?

I don't think adding an exterior hatch is going to work for your model of furnace, as the sail switch is at the front of the furnace. I know it won't for mine. See the exploded view Dave posted above.

It's the rear of the furnace. What will make an access hatch difficult for sail switch maintenance though with this version is it would need to be very close to the furnace vent assembly and it will be difficult to remove the vent panel cover without a decent sized access door.

Thanks Dave - really appreciate it. I could not find this exploded view.

No problem. Remove the black panel at the bottom of your photo and you should see the sail switch.

I just did. The black access panel was imbedded in RTV caulk. This must be an earlier version (manufacture date sticker stated 7/2016) than others on line. Looks like it would take a large access panel akin to the new Dometic furnace installs to be able to access the sail switch without removing the furnace. I will clean it up and put it back together....
Thanks all,
Steve
