Spare wheel for the spare

I am looking to mount an old Carlisle unused spare on a steel wheel. This will be a second spare for planned Alaska trip. From an old post I understand the wheel size should be 15x6 5 on 4.5” bolt pattern 3.19” bore size and 0 offset. Is this correct? Anybody have a good source for this?

I like RecPro but their rim selection is lower than usual right now. I think I may have quoted those rim specs in previous post but yes they are correct. Here is a rim that would work for you from etrailer:

My bad...I meant Recstuff...this will work...(cheaper and free shipping)

IMO your logic for a steel-wheel backup is sound.

One caution .... if your Escape has the alloy wheels with closed-end lugnuts as mine does, you may find those lugnuts will not tighten-down on the thinner steel wheel. The simple and inexpensive solution is carrying 5 appropriate-size and seat open-end lugnuts for use with that steel backup wheel.

Just for your consideration, Have Fun on your Alaskan adventure!

Silver Powdercoat

Love the Forum. Found here the information I needed to order new rims. Thanks.
One question: What is the general opinion on silver powdercoated rims vs. the white ones? I plan on using chrome hub covers and chrome lug nuts. Can't imagine how well this set up would look. Opinions welcome.
Thank you,
Gary

Boy am I glad I bought new wheels when I did. I converted from 5-lug-on-4½ to 6-lug-on-5½ and bought new Sendel "bullet" wheels 15x6. They were $109 at the time and they are now $159. Of course I had to buy new hub/drums also.

I bought the wheels from Rec Stuff and they are great to deal with, as I asked for a sale price a day after the sale had officially ended. They said they had inventory and honored the price only to discover they didn't have the inventory and I received new wheels straight from Sendel with a higher weight rating than the earlier versions that they had on sale. Good, honest folks.

The 205 tire is legit on a 5½ wide rim, however the 225 tire requires 6 inch wide minimum.

For a second spare the steel wheel is the deal. I bought a 5th alloy wheel for my one and only spare and modified the bracket for it also, If I have to install the spare, I do not need to remove it at a later date due to a mis match rim, it can just stay on the ground. But I bought GY Endurance and don't expect any need for the spare. In Alaska you need all the spares you can get. I also suggest carrying a spare bearing and race set, pre-greased in a ziplock.
