Squeaky wheel

Hi all.

Just got back from the Tour de Wyoming. 6 days, 360 miles, 4 mountain passes. Kinda like tour de France but for old people. My Lisa was my personal SAG moving our Escape 19’ from town to town. It gave us really nice comfort.

But, I was getting feedback from some cyclers that the trailer squeaked going down the road and I should have the bearings greased. Too new for dry bearings. When we got home to our local street I disconnected the electrical cable and the squeak may have gone away. Leads me to think that the brakes need adjusting or the Prodigy needs some tuning.

Any thoughts on troubleshooting squeaky brakes? What is the optimal setting on the prodigy?

Edgar

Re: Squeaky wheel

Ours never squeaked.. as for the Prodigy.. I had it set to 4.5 and I felt that was probably a good setting for our Highlander..

Re: Squeaky wheel

Hi Edgar

I tow with a Tacoma, my Prodigy is set at 6.5.
One thing make sure you don't have the boost turned on.....
its real easy to do when you turn the reverse on.

Doug

ps:- just got home from a great 4 day weekends camping.

Re: Squeaky wheel

I have a Prodigy also. Mine is at 6.1 with my Sienna. If the boost is on, will that cause difficulty in backing up? I started to have a problem with backing up and called customer support. I was told to take the boost off temporarily andt then try reverse. However, by the time I got that info, the "Suite Escape" was already unhooked and stored so I won't be able to try that until this coming week-end when she is going (along with the rest of us) to a spot on the Russian River inland from the Pacific by about four miles. Hopefully, that will solve the problem.

Re: Squeaky wheel

Hi Sandra

Our trailers are not heavy enough to use the boost feature.
To back up you hold down the same button that you activate
the boost feature with while you are in reverse, it may take a second
but an "r" will appear then you back up.

Thanks Doug,
I appreciate the advice, being a newbie on the driving end.
