Although the Escape website contains much more information on trailer options, pictures, and general information than the competitor brands Outback, Trillium, Casita, etc it still has significant gaps in information.
The contents of the starter kit is an example: I believe (we ordered it) it contains odds and ends such as wheel chocks, gloves, bottle of septic treatment (Liquid Gold or such). It seemed like a good idea as we, like many, want to load our Escape at the factory and head out on a maiden voyage. I don't think that you can buy the individual contents any cheaper at Walmart.
Best bet is to e-mail Reace and Tammy to ascertain the exact contents. If you use the contact e-mail on their website, they (usually Tammy) will usually respond within a day.
cheers,
G

I didn't know the starter kit came with a hitch lock... I guess I got two now. Because I just bought the deluxe model yesterday. I suppose the one in the kit is the one with the U-bolt over the top style. I passed on that one, looked like it was hack-saw accessible.

Just keep in mind that all of these devices only prevent the casual passerby from becoming an opportunist thief. Pretty much anything will work for that. Real trailer thieves do not use hacksaws, lock picks, bolt cutters, or any other type of tools. In fact, they don't even bother with hitching up. That takes too long. They just wrap YOUR safety chains around their hitch ball and drive off with your trailer. The only thing that might deter them is one of those club like devices that locks onto a wheel. Even then, they can just drag the whole thing away, but, it is less likely because of the attention it would attract going down the road.
The 5.0 has an unintended theft-deterent. A thief would need to use a pick-up small enough to get under the trailer to steal it, and I doubt many thieves subscribe to the philosophy of "less-is-more."
