Subscription, anyone?

Has anyone purchased a subscription to Overnight RV Parking? If you have, do you think it is worth the $24.99 annual subscription fee?

Nope, use Allstays and just limit your filter to overnight spots.

Allstays is my go to app. Also purchased Ultimate Campground Project but Allstays beats them out.

Is Allstays a one time purchase or are there in app updates that you have to buy?

One time purchase, there are no additional fees. One feature I like is you can click on the Reviews section to see what other campers have posted about this location. Clicking launches your browser and inevitably you will see a link to RV Park Reviews - Trusted Reviews of Campgrounds & RV Parks, my all time favorite website for camping. I like the opinions fellow campers, like me, have posted. They have just come out with an app but save your self the trouble, it is really buggy.

I have to admit that I use AllStays when looking for a quick overnight. I do not like venturing very far off route for a place to park so I have become quite intimate with Walmart parking lots. The app will give you reports of others who have stayed or tried to stay at particular Walmarts. It is not perfect and proper etiquette says you should call the store and speak to a manager. But it can save a lot of effort as a quick look at the icon will tell you if parking is allowed or not, then you can read the detail of that location.

It is also very useful if you want to explore different camp spots at a destination. I think a most definitive listing of campgrounds. Easy to put in Nashville, TN and see the Corp of Engineer Campgrounds east of the city or the county park that allows overnights. It seems all the possibilities are there.

The app has directed me to a number of Cabela's that have designated parking spots and it will tell you if and how many spots there are at a Cracker Barrel.

Escapees members now have a map routing set-up. Anyone who might be interested in joining could use that for campground reviews. I think membership is $40 first time, then $30.(used to be $70, $60) Good magazine and forum geared to fulltiming or similar. Also have to pay $20, I think, to Days End which is actually a separate entity. I know there are some heavy travelers and fulltimers here who might like to use this.

The site is daysenddirectory dotcom. You first choose what you want to see on their list for your route such as Corps of Engineers' campgrounds, casinos, Walmarts, state parks. The members have given reviews, 800 pages worth, which you cannot see unless a member. They come up automatically on the route, no reviews though. If not a member, however, you can see the other things you have checked on the route. Put in starting and ending locations after checking choices. (No connection to Escape Trailer.)

Thanks Paul. Allstays sounds like a pretty good deal for 10 bucks.

Even though I posted the original question, I do use Allstays myself. It's just that when I looked on the OvernightRVParking.com (I will abbreviate ORP) website and clicked on the demo tab, I compared one of their demo locations to Allstays and found that ORP listed more locations. They do not have a trial period, and where I live is not one of their demo locations, so I am unable to make an "educated" comparison. They do claim to update their data frequently, which I cannot say for Allstays. I wish I could find someone who has subscribed to get their opinion.

I have just looked over the ORP website and app reviews. I took one of their demo cities, Clear Lake IA and compared the map and findings with a similar map from AllStays. I find maps do not show the same campgrounds. The Allstays app had two additional private campgrounds on Clear Lake that ORP did not. Also the AllStays adds quite a few more icons. Low clearance, propane refill, RV repair center etc. In addition these icons had an image rather than just a color change, they were much easier to look at and immediately know this was a Walmart that does not allow overnight parking, the web site demo of ORP requires you to click on the bubble to see the contents. Now maybe the ORP app has these but the demo does not give the option to see them.

I guess the deal breaker for me with ORP is the cost of $25. But wait, there is more, that cost is an annual fee according to the web site.
