Theft protection
Do many of you boondocks and if so how do you protect against theft of your trailer or 5TA. What locking devices do you use.

I've never worried about a hitch lock when we're camping. Since our 5.0TA resides in a storage yard when we're at home I put a simple kingpin lock on it like this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

There are limitless ways people use; all of which can be defeated by a determined and well prepared thief.
I use this.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Along with one of these skillfully hidden near the hitch.
https://www.amazon.com/16-Grizzly-Be.../dp/B00021UX6I
Combined with a paid up insurance policy.

🤔Any lock can be defeated with modern powered tools , but I think the this one will slow them down a bit. It works with the Anderson Ultimate.

When overnight boondocking we never de-hitch. A baseball bat and a Master lock are my only security.

You can stop them, but we try to be the least appealing target in the campground. We have a hitch pin lock, w/an old ball with the shank cut off locked in the socket (Thanks, Pat, for the idea). We lock the chains up behind the hitch, so they can't tow by the chains. We have locks on the batteries, locks on the storage box, lock on the propane hold-down wing nut. Eye bolts w/ locks have the threads peened over. We've been known to wrap chain around the back bumper and padlock to something substantial.
It's just a lot of stuff that they can cut, but they'll be there a while trying.
Future move: when it's time to re-do the brakes, we're planning on purchasing Dexter brakes with the parking brake option, both for safety on sloping camp spots, and to have a hidden lockable brake lever, so if they cut all the locks, and somehow attach to the trailer, it's still not going to roll!!!

I use the one I got from ETI if I'm concerned about theft. Was looking at the Warlock https://war-lok.com/product/king-pin-lock/ but have yet to worry enough to get it. Would have to call and see if it fits RV's.

Check out Fort Knox lock website and see how easy many of these locks can be defeated without power tools. Hammer and crowbar are pretty common tools. Now a torch or power grinder or even a saws all will get you past any lock out there .🤨

Most locks are garbage and easily defeated, but not so with the Proven Industries locks. Granted I haven't seen anyone take a torch or a grinder to it but the crowbar, sledge hammer and Sawzall doesn't even phase it. Starts at 4:22.

Impressive, it has a lot in common with the Fort Knox type lock. Again a grinder, torch even a sawzall ( with the right blade) will beat anything out there.😎

Batteries died in my Sentry Gun Safe and couldn't find the backup key.
Went on Google and found a fella that posts videos and how to open most all safes. Aluminum zip tie and about 30 seconds later and popped it right open. I'm sure most bad folks have his website bookmarked.
