Thanks Pat. Gonna get to it after Thanksgiving Day.

Paddling, I dropped my brush in the Casita black tank while I was prepping it for sale. What a pain to get it out!

We have the same issue with our 2018. At first I thought it was something I was doing wrong; however, our 19' never had this issue. I cleaned the ring thoroughly and that seemed to help ... but I'm watching it closely.

For pure silicone search on Amazon for this "DANCO Waterproof Food Grade Silicone Grease for O-Rings".

And don't feel bad about dropping a brush into the black tank. I once dropped my glasses into the outhouse. Since I couldn't see, my wife had to fish them out. Bonus: We're still married...

You are very welcome and hope you get it fixed . I think because you are using full timing , you will have things needing attention sooner . But you will get it fixed I am sure . Pat

; that IS true.

Though, anything 'lost' down the potty can be retrieved easily enough when emptying.
The flat sliding gate valve is simple enough that it just works.

The biggest problem, I think, with a portapotty is that, with a small reservoir, it's more sensitive to pressure differences.
Think: atmospheric pressure diff. between sea level, where we live, and 9000 ft., where we fish.

Speaking of dropping things down the toilet, a good friend of mine picked up her new 17’ Casita last week and on the way home, after she had been using the black tank for two days, noticed a caulk tube floating around in there. She managed to get it back in view with a flyswatter and pulled it out by grasping the tip with her fingers!

silicone plumbers grease would be my first choice. its about the consistency of vaseline, and stays the same thickness whether its hot or cold (while petroleum jelly aka vaseline gets softer/thicker when its hotter/colder). also this stuff is completely inert with rubbers and such.

of course, the tanks on an RV are vented, so pressure or lack thereof isn't an issue.
