Trailer dolly

Hi All, I am a first time trailer owner (19ft) and am looking to buy a trailer dolly like the Trailer Valet XL. Has anyone had any experience with the Trailer Valet or another option?

Paul

Thanks Jim for helping me with the forum.

I've used the Trailer Valet with my 21. It works very well as long as you're not on a rock or gravel surface... in which case it will just dig a hole in the ground.

I have the ParkIt 360 10K. It's able to handle very steep grades and turns (like my driveway) pretty well. It has oversized tires with a good aggressive tread on them, so it can handle rougher surfaces better than some of the other ones. The only thing I don't like about it is that hooking up and tightening the collar under the ball is a bit of a pain.

So far Trailer Valet's XL and 5X are the only ones I found that are portable, small and light enough you can carry. I do like the XL, it has solid rubber tires and a adapter you can attach to a cordless drill

If you can post a picture of the area in which you want to use one, it may be helpful to show.
PS- welcome to the forum......

I have an XL. Where i store my trailer, moving the into position to hookup to my truck requires a sharp turn. With the dual axles of a 21', the forces required by XL bend the lip of the trailer tongue. Longer turns would be ok.

Currently I use a hitch extender on my truck, jockey the tonque sideways, then hook up normally.

I use a trailer Valet to get my 19’ close to the fence. My drive has a bit of a slope so I can’t really use it to go uphill. I back the trailer up as far as it will go then use the Valet to maneuver it down hill closer to the fence. My wife stands by to throw wheel chocks under the tires if it starts to get away from me. Also with the Atwood hitch one needs to use the optional plate to get it tightened in the hitch socket well. I use large channel locks to get it good an tight. Otherwise it can kick out of the socket.

Bottom line, if you have a fairly flat, paved area, the Valet will work well. Otherwise it can be a challenge.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. It is likely I will go with the Trailer Valet. The Trailer Valet offers 2 ball size options. I believe the Escape 19' uses a 2 inch ball. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks again.

We have a Trailer Valet XL for sale. We're asking $300. It won't push our Escape 21 up the 6% grade of the driveway. It should be in the Parts For Sale section of this, and the Casita forum.

Unfortunately we live in Texas and we will not be home until the end of July. I expect you need it before then.
