Transporting Berkey Water Filter when on the road.

On the recommendation of several forum members, we bought a Berkey Travel water filter and we really like it. We want to take it with us on our next trip in our E21. I am curious to know where and how others place the Travel Berkey when on the road. TIA for your advice!

I’m interested to hear what others do as well. We have a larger fifth wheel and what has been working for us is drain the water, leave assembled and place on floor at hitch end of trailer for smoothest ride. You could turn the top half upside down and it slips in the bottom half, less tippy that way. So far we haven’t broken the neck off a filter yet.

For long trips, I place my travel Berkey in the sink of my 17B, anchored to the faucet with a bungee cord and surrounded by the bubbly sheets Amazon uses to pack most everything. I take special care to protect the plastic water spout, and filling the base half full helps to keep it from bouncing around. So far, so good!

For short trips, I fill these water storage cubes and leave the Berkey at home.

Love my little Berkey! And my little RV!

After my last move I had a leftover 5 inch spool of plastics wrap so I used it to wrap my Berkey upper and lower together as well as wrapping the lid to the top. I then place it in the sink with padding before traveling. You’ll find that there are many uses for a 5 inch spool of plastic wrap when securing things before a trip. You can find the 5 inch Clear-Plastic-Stretch-Wrap at Lowe’s or HD.

All good for the environment, right?

As long as the materials are continually repurposed!

Love my Berkey and use it both traveling and at home. Berkey is having a sale on their stainless bundle, $337 down to $285. Pricey but lets me use my water tank rather than plastic water bottles.

Houston's suffering shortages with water, as well as power, and low water pressure means that folks are now having to boil water. Grateful for our Berkeys! (Anticipating the possibility of frozen pipes, these we filled the bathtub days before the pressure dropped.)

Our Berkey travels:
Empty, in a box placed behind us in the pickup cab. Backing wraps in the box to keep Berkey and it’s spout safe inside the box. We also use plastic shopping bags around the carbon filters (inside the Berkey) to keep the filters moist, cause Berkey filters are not supposed to dry out.

Larry. (Liz looks after Berkey. I do all the other heavy lifting re trailer loading)
