Triple digit trouble

Since we here in NM have been dealing with temperatures in the triple digits (was a steady 101degrees F -at 4:41 PM yesterday) outside, I have noticed something new to me. Heat is going to be a bigger problem in ways unexpected. Adhesives get soft... ...even the adhesives on tape!

Since I opted for framed solar on my Escape roof and not them attractive, thin low profile flexible panels I now am feeling really good. Talking not-to-worry better, about that choice. Better check your panels, guys.

While deployed to Tucson in the summer in years past our dark painted equipment would reach 185 deg F. We had to wear gloves just to touch and work on our lighter colored aircraft. I went with the framed raised panels because I felt the dark colored panels glued roof would heat the trailer and reduce the life of the panels. Also, with the raised panels the top of your trailer is partially in the shade and the panels can dissipate the heat better. Not as pretty or streamline but just my opinion YMMV.

The heat is ON

Stuff I have in my vehicle attached with 3M Extreme adhesive Velcro pads often plop off from the heat. Mechanical bonding is a positive attachment method. Adhesives are wonderful, until they're not.
