Trouble disconnecting the Rhino Sewer hose
Hello everyone,
The last 3 or 4 times we’ve been out we’ve had trouble connecting / disconnecting our Rhino sewer hose. If we manage to connect it, disconnecting it requires a great deal of effort.
The last time we had to get some strapping young man to help us out when we were at the transfer station.
In the interest of reducing frustration and the likelihood of damaging something we’ve decided to switch to using the ETI supplied hose.
Having said that, I’d really like to tap into the much more experienced group and see if anyone else has had this problem and what your solution was.
Cheers and thanks,
Candace

One idea would be to put a clear "front end" on your Rhino hose, and simply leave the Rhino hose connected to the clear connector. This would fix the issue if the root cause is something on your Rhino hose that makes it hard to connect/disconnect.
Here's an example of a clear adapter: https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Sewer-H...07&sr=8-3&th=1

Vaseline goes a long way for lubing fittings. Put in on the coupling.

Silicone grease on the inside area of the hose fittings where they mate up un the trailer.
Stuff is also good for lubing gaskets.

Rhino hose disconnect
Thank you everyone. I knew there had to be better ideas than hitting it with a hammer!

Solution to the Rhino Hose Disconnect
So our solution was to buy the clear extension AND a channel lock. The combination works so far. Again thanks everyone for helping out.

Absolutely it could work. I checked at some RV stores here and couldn’t find one.
We just ran out of time to order from Amazon. We leave on Sunday for Osoyoos and the rally.

There is an RV repair shop in Osoyoos that has a pretty large parts department. There is a chance...

I also find it difficult to attach/detach the Rhino hose; I can just do it. So it's not just you. Didn't think of trying to lube the thing.

Addendum -- I really think the Rhino's measurements are a bit off, making it hard to fit the Escape's discharge pipe. Friction isn't really the problem.

Same problem here. I just took a round file to the 4 Rhino "claws" and slightly enlarged the reliefs into which the 4 pegs snap. Did this to the clear extender as well as the Rhino fitting, since I absolutely did NOT want to break the pegs off of the trailer's brittle-looking fitting - then would have a real problem on my hands (and on the ground too). Just don't remove too much material because then the seal won't compress and seal well.

Rhino hose disconnect
I’m both happy and dismayed that there are other people with the same problem. Happy to know we’re not alone and dismayed that the problem happens. And thank you for the solutions, this forum never fails to deliver.

Yeah it can be a PITA when manufacturers of parts change something even a tiny bit. I remember, in the early days, when people were filing off a bit of the ears on the Rhino collar because it wouldn't fit in the storage tube. Later it wasn't a problem, because Rhino changed 'something.' I have a couple of old ChapStix, I think I'll put them in the toolbox. 'Grease' up the sewer connection!

I bought a Rhino hose for our new 5.0TA that we picked up last month, had previously only used the inexpensive flimsy hoses but the Rhino looked better. I did notice that it was pretty tight getting it on and off the sewer outlet...but since I got it on and off OK I just figured I should be happy that it was a good snug leak free connection.

Is there something inherently wrong with the ETI supplied hose?
It’s working just fine for us so far.
