TV tuner or laptop ?

For those of you who are using your laptop to watch TV in your escape.... what kind of tuner are you using?

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-850 USB stick

It hooks up to the cable TV a lot of commercial campgrounds have. It doesn't work with an antenna for over-the-air broadcasts.

We're not much on TV. We live at the cottage for half the year with no TV, and don't have cable or anything at the house - so we just watch some stuff I download off the Internet. I thought we'd use the TV tuner to check out local news and, more importantly, weather but have only done it a few times. It works well though.

I have an Elgato eyeTV USB stick. Works with over the air or cable, like all digital TV, is a pain to set up each time you move, but that doesn't matter since I rarely use it.

We will probably rarely use it so I was hoping for something simple.

I mostly boondock with no hook up power so rely on batteries.I got a small 20" TV, and ran it through an inverter, but soon discovered the inverter would start beeping after about 1 1/2 hours, not long enough to watch a dvd.So now I bought a Mac book Pro laptop and I can watch a full movie and play some games before having to charge it.Then I charged it ,takes 1 1/2 hours on a simple $39 dollar inverter from Canadian Tire in the trailer and still have lots of battery power. That is working for me,and I'll save the TV setup for on rare occasion I am hooked up to DC,or if I'm somewhere ,were there is no one else I can run the small Honda generator to watch the TV.

Same as Jon. One laptop, no TV. Simple.
