This is a topic that's been discussed extensively. A little searching will uncover numerous previous threads.

At the end of the day it's all just personal preference there are no absolute pros and cons.

Personally I never thought it was worth having in my 19 but looking at the 21NE with the u dinette it looked much more usable and worthwhile.

We had considered the u-shaped dinette when we ordered our 19. When we visited Chilliwack to finalize our build, our salesperson was able to show us a 19 on their lot which was configured this way.

You end up with a much smaller table and the benches become much more cramped. The seat cushions on the 'u' portion are also quite narrow. We went with the standard dinette and have no regrets. Much roomier.

Exactly, you think you can seat more people at a u-shaped dinette, but, it's just the opposite. The table for the 4 person dinette (shown below) is actually pretty small for 4 place settings to start with.

Cut that nearly in half and you've reduced a 4 person dinette table to a 3 person card table.

All the while thinking that you'll have room for six. But it's one of those items, some love it, some don't.
