Was this how Escape used to do pedestal tables?

Hi! While waiting for our 5.0 to be build (currently, July 2023 is pickup...), we found a 2005 17A that we are making changes (aka removing ugly flooring...LOL) to so that we have a camper for next camping season!

Our 17A has the two tables - one with the folding table leg (and gets attached to the wall); the other is your standard pedestal table - the same area where the permanent bed goes in the new trailers.

When we took off the pedestal floor mount, we heard a "thunk" and then were able to look through the floor to the outside. While we are going to plug the hole now, we were wondering if, back in the day, they installed pedestal tables with a hole into the floor, being plugged by something like a flush table base round from the bottom of the trailer, so that the pole would sink into the plywood (slightly). It just seemed odd to have that hole in the floor...LOL

Some internet snooping reveals that back in the early days when Escape only produced the 17 they did indeed have some front pedestals that went through the shell. These should have been nearly flush on the interior with post removed. The first picture was from a trailer at an RV dealer when Escape was experimenting with a non-factory direct sales model. The second picture is from a unique 2013 19 installation that the owner claims had the flush mounts installed from the factory.
