Water Pressure Regulator
My next COVID-19 project.
Lola says “water pressure is a lot lower when connected to campground spigot than when using with water pump”.
After seeing some posts here, I decided to replace my Camco inline regulator with this honking Renator regulator. The factory setting is about 45 psi and it is about the same as the water pump, which is about 40psi, according to the literature.
I made a video showing the before/after, but, for some reason, I can’t post. I will do it on the Escape FB page.
Lola is very happy!

I have a similar regulator, although Valterra branded and with some detail differences. It's great, because I can see the actual output pressure and easily adjust it if desired, rather than hoping that a blind fixed regulator is working.

Just be careful of freezing weather. I destroyed one of these leaving it out on a 22°F night.

Nice regulator. Just for information for other users the Shurflo 4008 pump cut-in (restart) is 40 PSI and cut-out (shut off) is 55 PSI.

I've suggested this regulator before, and still think it's a good idea.

Don,
Nice! If it works for you, that’s great! We travel full time in our 21’ Escape and started noticing that our water pump had much more pressure than our water connection. So, I started checking it out.

Thanks Fred, that's good to know if we ever have that problem of low pressure.

Bringing up an old post here…..can anyone recommend a decent quality water pressure regulator? The one style pictured above seems to be made by many many different companies and have VERY mixed reviews of them failing after a few uses….. what are you using and is it a good piece? Thanks!

I kept it simple and cheap - 10 bucks at Lowe's or Home Despot - the gauge threads on a normal hose bib / garden hose. I use it to periodically check the output side of my static non-adjustable water pressure regulator. And when I get really bored sitting around the campsite, I can check the difference between the city water supply and the output of my regulator. I also use it around the house to set the air pressure in my hot water accumulator equal to the water pressure and to check that the water department hasn't upped the pressure without bothering to mention it.
I just use a generic 45 psi brass regulator from Home Despot. Another 10 bucks or so, and maybe not as likely to disappear as the fancy adjustable one with the attached gauge.
