Surflo 4008 Data Sheet and question....

Pat, so your pump had a pressure problem?
My pump had a prime problem.

You bought a kit for 15 bucks +/- and that fixed it.

The fellow selling me the new pump said "my" rebuild kit for a prime problem cost almost as much as a pump.

Looking at this Data Sheet did you just replace #5? (I could only upload page 1 of 2 to stay under the size limit).

A hose over a hose barb, held with a clamp, should not have any sealant. The hose may still be difficult to remove, since it will be formed to match the barbs by continued clamping.

My only hint for this hose removal is to push the end of the hose off, rather than just pulling on the hose (which tightens the hose onto the barb). Hose grip pliers can be helpful, too. Breaking the barbed fitting would be undesirable, particularly if it is directly bonded into the tank (rather than being screwed into a threaded bung)... that's the thing that always makes me hesitate to mess with this sort of connection.

I usually get stuck cutting the hose to get it off a barbed fitting with a razor blade, if that's what it is, never seen one glued. If needed graft on a small extension to the hose.

Klem yes 94-800-05 part number . I was told to remove the 8 screws carefully separate and use soapy water on the #2 and # 3 rubber diaphragm parts as long as they are not damaged . Rinse and reassemble . The part I replaced wouldn't let pump run until I bypassed it . I removed 3 screws and removed switch . Hooked up the ground with a wire to reach our Subaru car battery . Another wire to reach from pump to positive on car battery . Tried it both ways with switch attached and with switch removed . That told me motor was good but switch was bad . There is a kit with spring and check valve #94-800-03 . Also I don't think expensive . That goes under the pressure switch . Isn't this fun ? Pat

Thanks, Read the instructions yes I did.

Including monitoring the voltage with a meter on the pump leads.

I will fix the old one and report back. Much easier then refrig work! Are we having fun yet?
