What can be used to remove tree pitch on roof of trailer

Roof of trailer has pitch or tree sap. Any suggestions on how to remove this sticky and yellow substance?

Isopropyl alcohol works

Isopropyl alcohol worked great for us for pine pitch from shore pines on the WA coast and spruce pitch in OR.

It works well on pines from the east coast as well.

Shaeffer Citrol ! Excellent product. Also great for removing tar residue. It removes wax so I always wax that area after cleaning with Citrol.

If it's just coloring you might try a little compound.

We have successfully used PineSol. Of course, a thorough rinse is required right after.

Goo Gone or Goof Off also works. Never thought of WD40 but I suspect it would be similair to the Goo Gone or Goof Off

I haven't found either of those products works that well, and WD40 is best at stinking. If you apply ice, you can then press the sharp edge down on the sap, being careful not to penetrate it and damage the surface. The sap shatters, leaving little residue.

On the other hand, you can now buy sanitizer by the gallon compared to the little 4oz pre Covid bottles.

I went to purchase antiseptic wipes, they are still price gouging for anything related to the pandemic. I saw it in the springtime and it is still going on.....sad.

That looks more like rust oxidation. We used to deal with that all of the time on new vehicles that had metal particles land on the finish. Try some rubbing compound or if you don't have that, some toothpaste. You will know pretty quickly.

if it is iron oxidation, I use a product from Car Pro called Iron X on my car to remove the iron oxidation spots that show up on cars particularly in winter. At first you think your car is rusting out, but then you see the spots on plastic parts as well.

This stuff works amazingly well. Spray it on, the rust areas turn purple after 30 seconds to a couple of minutes, then you hose it off.

I had a lot of what your picture loos like. I parked near some poplar trees and they made a mess. I found denatured alcohol, available at any hardware store, got it off nicely. Good luck!
