What is the overall height of an Escape 19, 2nd gen

We are wishing to build a carport to house our future Escape 19 with factory air. Written stuff from Escape says 8'6". But we think that is only for Escapes without factory air. Guessing now, the air conditioner might add 1 ft to the height? anyone have an answer?

If I was building one, I'd make it 10' to be sure and cover and future models. Also the Jack antenna may be higher than the a/c but with a foot and half margin you should be fine.

And I'd build it 12' tall at it's lowest point. Tall enough to work on the roof out of the weather. That's also good for washing and waxing.

A new 19 without A/C is 8'6" but that is also accounting for a closed MaxxFan because they are stock. A 19 with A/C is coming in at 9' or just over. The jack antenna is reported to be a few inches lower than the A/C. Obviously these measurements are without the axle lift kit.

Thanks for the replies, we forgot we are ordering the lifted axles which must add at least 2". Fine, 10 ft on the sides and 12' overall height will do just fine.

I asked this same question when I was at Escape picking up our trailer a few weeks ago. I was told the AC unit Escape uses only adds 6" to the overall height of the trailer. The AC unit itself is about 10"- 11" tall but the standard MaxxFan (which is 5" tall) is already included in the 8'6" listed height of the trailer. We did not get the Jack Antenna, so like was previously mentioned the antenna could be your high point. Without the antenna you would be right at 9 feet. If you are building a carport I would do as others have suggested and give yourself some extra space for future roof options and to have access to your roof while it's still under the carport. I needed to know this information because the place where we park our Escape 21 has a carport with a height of 9'6".

My carport has 10 ft legs which makes 12 ft at the cross supports. I needed the peaked roof because of the 4 ft snowfalls we get. If you get the more rounded roof it will be shorter inside, by how much I don’t know. My 21 fits perfect, with plenty of room to work on the roof. And room for future....who knows what.

Jake, that looks to be a pretty steep hill to be pulling up and backing down, ever have any wet grass issues?

1. Have you already tried to fit your new Escape 21 in the 9’6” carport?

2. Did you order the high lift kit?

3. Did you order the A/C unit?

Asking for a friend who also has a 9’6” carport, wants the high lift kit, Jack TV antenna and A/C unit on a 21’ 2nd Gen.

I just called Escape. AC brings the overall height up to 9'. High lift axle adds another 2 1/2". So I'd personally be worried with 3" of clearance. Our area is fairly rocky. One good size rock and we could hit. We decided to go for 10' clearance.

Ya I pull up behind those old sheds and make a big swing on the back lawn, pull right under. With my GMC’s & Chevys and a lighter trailer(Chalet) I’d get stuck quite often. With my Tundra and the Escape, no problem as of yet, and it’s been pretty wet back there.

Please keep in mind that a 10' garage door could result in a 9'-10" opening depending on how much the door overlaps the frame at the top. In other words, the size of a garage door opening is relative to the height of the door, but is not the same.

its all about your tires highway tires, even on a 4x4, slip-city on a surface like wet grass. decent A/T tires, in 4L going easy and steady, should have little problem.

We went with a 12 ft overhead door . We thought about going with a 10 ft door but for only a slight increase in cost , it wasn’t worth the risk . Now I am sure our trailer will get through the door

You will like being able to get up over the top of the trailer to check your caulking and polish her up in the spring even when the weather is bad.

We just got a new carport for our 19 (installed this past Monday) which is very similar to the one in post #7. It's from a company named MaxSteel, and they have dealers all over the country. Of course, there are lots of other companies out there that make similar carports, but we've been very pleased with this company so far.
