Dave a little while ago talked to Proven Industries . They no longer offer the round design only the square design now . That is the correct number and lock for our trailers . Yours and our 2013 . Pat

Sorry, my DeWalt grinder can cut your lock off in less than a minute. It's like the kids downtown stealing bicycles, they can cut a $100 Kryptonite bike lock in 40 seconds while your watching.

That Proven Industries lock only looks like 3/16" steel plate, it would cut like butter.

Best advice, good insurance and store your trailer in a safe location. I drive 25 minutes to a storage yard out in the country as I feel it's safer than the one not far from the house.

Do you use a lock on your trailer?

I've often wondered why thieves steal trailers. What do they do with them? It's not like they can take it and park the thing in their back yard without calling attention to it. Yeah, its a big continent but...how anonymous can anyone really be? Are they guys who need a base deep in the wilderness for when they are hunting? Do they just use the trailer parts in chop shops? Do they ship them off to other countries?

The company I work for has a very small subdivision that makes a bicycle lock. This guy is local to us, and tried to help out, but the president of the subdivision resisted and ended up looking foolish. Anyways, if you want to find out about locks, look here. I searched for "trailer" and these videos showed up:

Yup. The LockPickingLawyer shows everyone how easy it is to defeat just about any lock, including wheel chock locks and tire clamps. There's also dozens of videos on YouTube on how to easyily defeat locking lug nuts. Ergo, all these thing we do are just deterrents. Nothing more.

1/4 hardened steel

Not expecting it to be a perfect solution. Goal is to slow them down and force them to make noise. This would be used primarily at home driveway and at campgrounds while away so the likelihood off someone being seen or heard is quite high.

May replace the aluminum puck lock that comes with the Proven Industries locks with a Mul-T-Lock TR100. Hardened stainless steel. Supposed to be drill and pick resistant. Again, not perfect but probably the best combination for reasonable security.

We live just South and East of two large public forests
If you travel back on the logging roads in the forests you will find numerous abandoned travel trailers , some stolen , some just dumped by their owners .
They are / were used as hunting shacks or meth labs
Around here most trailers are stolen right before deer hunting season with no intentions of being resold for profit

As far as $400 super titanium , kryptonite ,hardened super steel trailer locks they are no match for my $9.99 HF grinder and a good cutting wheel .

Locks are made for keeping honest people, honest, and to resist temptation. Locks do not prevent theft, if the thief is determined.

One of the reasons we chose the 5th wheel was for some security.
Every truck has a ball hitch and can drag any trailer away.
Many fewer have a 5th wheel hitch and it would be somewhat more difficult to just drag it away.
