White dust from air conditioner

A couple weeks back I showed our 21'. Before hand, I turned on the air conditioner and it blew a small cloud of white dust that lightly coated the inside of the trailer. I vacuumed it up and passed it off as construction dust. It had been run before with no cloud. Ran it again tonight and got the same thing. Anybody have a similar experience? I am guessing fiberglass cutting dust.

Fiberglass consuming termites?

Your guess is as good as anyone's but I wouldn't think you would continue getting dust after a certain point. Are you sure it's not mold? What is the humidity level in the trailer?

I've removed my fridge and opened up hidden spaces and there's been lots of white dust and debris in those spaces requiring vacuuming and wiping down.

So I think it's possible it is white f.g. dust from cutting or drilling.

Carl, I'm guessing that white dust was the evaporated minerals from water. The interior parts are cold after you shut the unit off, and water condenses on them. It evaporates after a while, leaving a fine white dust that gets blown out when it restarts. I've seen similar on other ac units.

I had a similar thing happen this summer. My AC compressor went out on my Cherokee and I had it replaced (aaaaaa - ouch). A few days later when I turned it on, out came a significant white cloud and then it dissappeared, then again the next day but a smaller cloud. I never solved what it was .... it had no smell and no residue and hasn't happened since. A mystery!

Hi: All... I've heard of "Blowing the cobwebs out" before but this is something else!!! I haven't seen this phenomenon yet. Another meaning for "Angel dust"? Alf

Is there a filter on the air conditioner? The cover I assume is removable. Maybe tonight I'll pull it and take a look.
