Window shade cords fraying and almost broken

Has anyone replaced or fixed the accordion window shade cords that have frayed? We are on our journey from the Rally up to the Arctic Circle and have just noticed the cord is frayed and nearly broken on one shade at the dinette area.

Any and all ideas for a repair are welcomed:-)

Same thing happened to me. I ordered a replacement shade from ETI. This would be hard to do on the road. Perhaps someone has a “field expedient” solution for you.

It's easy to do even on the road. We had one of the strings start fraying on the rear window blind. Picked up a repair kit at Camping World. Watched a couple of Youtube videos and went into action. Actual job only took about a half hour.

All you need is some 1.4 mm braided cord such as this:
https://www.amazon.com/25-YARDS-ALAB.../dp/B00XAIHVE2

Also available on eBay. If you are beyond civilization on your trip you could have a friend or relative buy the cord and mail it to you via general delivery.

I ordered the kit from Amazon and had it delivered to the campground. It came with all parts and instructions and I fixed the shade there. Easy.

United Shade makes the shades for ETI. They historically don’t deal directly with customers but I did find this cord repair kit on their website. instructions are there too. Maybe this might help?

I think all the earlier links are now dead. Here's a current one: https://www.campingworld.com/pleated...ige-91549.html

Just replaced a set. Bought the cord at JoAnn Fabrics and dyed it with tea. There were a number of uTube videos on the process. All you need is the cord.

After using it on our current trip I decided it needed some bees wax to make it slide easier.

We have fixed as well using proper size braided line. Lay out and follow a diagram - easy. Also we have found that the fraying happens if the blind is not pulled to the bottom almost right over the plastic knobs that hold the tension strings.

I grabbed a kit from Camping World and did mine. It's a bit of a pain, but not too bad. The blinds are on a carrier under the valence and have a couple latches you can undo (which I didn't figure out until after I removed the valence). After that it's just a matter of threading it through and cutting to size, tying it off, and clipping the blinds back in.
