Don,
Still not used to using my phone. Back home. Easier to see on my computer screen. And not distracted while trying to make my dear wife, Suzanne, happy with a Starbucks treat.
Do you tow the Escape with the Pilot? The 13' (single axle - 18' ball to bumper) of the Oliver is over 5,000 pounds. The trailer is half again, or more, as much as the Escape. I want to option to be able to go to places without hookups, so would prefer to have the bath, and probably the composting toilet, too, I think. A new 17B was right at $40,000 the way I had it speced out. The Oliver was almost $64,000, 13' of living space.
When the eldest daughter graduated from Cam High in 1994, she and the two younger daughters went on a 20,000 mile summer trip living in a 24' Coachmen fifth wheel. Four women in the trailer. It was actually fun. We were fairly low key, and only had a few spots to stop - Rifle Colorado to visit family, Disney World/Ft Wilderness, DC and the Statue of Liberty. Otherwise, it was let's see how much we could see.
Want to do something similar with just the 2 of us old folks, now. Our 50 year wedding anniversary is in April, 2023. Our honeymoon, when I was 18, Suzanne was 19, was a weeklong camping trip along the coast in a two-man nylon pup tent before I went into the Air Force. So 50 will be in a luxurious trailer - with heat and hard sides.
I would like to see your 17A. We feel the need for a bathroom/toilet. I guess shower could be outside when not in a campground with hookups.
